Rep. Al Green took to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives with a “To Whom It May Concern” message announcing that while at this early date he may stand alone among his colleagues, he will be taking the reigns and initiating a movement for impeaching President Donald Trump over his proposal to take over Gaza and forcibly displace the Palestinian people who live there.
Green’s comments were made shortly after President Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, during which time he floated the idea of the U.S. taking over the Gaza Strip.
Rep. Green has previously introduced articles of impeachment against Donald Trump in 2017 for Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey, which was shelved without a vote, and then later reintroduced articles of impeachment against President Trump on July 16, 2019, citing Trump’s attacks on four Democratic congresswomen of color.
While neither of Rep. Green’s attempts to impeach President Trump were successful, President Trump was subsequently successfully impeached twice in the U.S. House of Representatives, once for over the contents of a phone call he had had with the President of Ukraine, and then a second time for his actions related to the January 6th attack on Congress.
President Trump now holds the record of being the most impeached President in American history and the only convicted felon to occupy the White House.
